Yoga Niyamas: Please observe the following
Saucha (Cleanliness/Purity)
· Yoga is practiced in bare feet so please remove your shoes before entering the studio.
· Sweating is a great way to release toxins in the body. However, if you sweat a lot, either bring a towel or purchase a Yogitoes towel to go over your mat so we can keep our props clean and fresh.
· Please do not wear heavy perfumes or oils to class.
· Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. Please allow 2 hours after eating a heavy meal and 1 hour after something light before practicing.
· Please wear non-restrictive comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement but nothing too baggy or loose.
· Yoga Mats are available for a $2 rental fee but it is recommended that you purchase your own for hygiene purposes.
Santosha (Contentment)
· Yoga is non-competitive. Please respect your body and its limits. Yoga is a life long journey not a finite goal. Rest whenever you need to. We encourage listening to your body and tuning in to what is right for you regardless of what everyone else is doing.
· Please notify the instructor of any injuries that you may have prior to the class and inform them if something doesn't feel right.
Tapas (Discipline/Action)
· Please make putting away the props neatly a part of your practice.
· Please keep voices low in the lobby so as not to disturb the classes in session.
· You must sign in and pay before class. This is very important as it ensures that our teachers are paid.
· Please arrive to class a few minutes early to get checked in and set-up. If you are late, please wait until after the opening chant to enter. Everyone is late occasionally but we do not allow entry after 10 minutes from start time.
· No cell phones allowed in the studio.
Svadhyaya (Self-study)
· Please leave all of your expectations and judgments of yourself and others at the door. We strive to respect diversity in all beings.
Ishvara Pranidhana (Surrender)
· By honoring the niyamas listed above, you now have the freedom and awareness to surrender to and enjoy your Yoga class! We appreciate your willingness.
